It is rather sad to see the amount of media attention our Springbok coach is getting when his side played like demons to win the series against the British and Irish Lions 2 – 0 with one to play. Unfortunately our coach has decided to take the media on and so far he has lost badly. As the series stands the media lead “P Divvy” 2 – 0 with one to play.
The coach’s comments about Schalk Burger’s suspension were something to savour, like a meerkat trapped in a dingy hole, the coach scrambled, backing Burger by saying he did not see anything wrong and then came out with his famous ballet collision sport comment.
The next faux par was the statement which “P Divvy” denied getting congratulations from Lions coach Ian McGeechan. The Lions media liaison stating categorically at a press confederence on Wednesday that “Geech” congratulated P Divvy after the game in the tunnel and outside the press conference.
I think that SA Rugby must be pulling out their frazzled hair after the latest revelations. Unfortunately the series is going to go down to the wire with “P Divvy” expected to lose. Coaches should know that their team’s actions speak louder than any words that they could mutter at a press conference.
